Cerium (IV) Oxide Nanoparticles Enhance Hepatotoxic and Nephrotoxic Effects of Paraquat, Cisplatin, or Acetaminophen in Mice

چکیده

Nanomaterials are central to nanotechnology and have many useful properties. Cerium(IV) oxide nanoparticles (nCeO) catalytic antioxidant activity, hold promise in industrial medical products. However, the potential biological hazards of nCeO not been addressed. We therefore investigated vivo effects drug interactions nCeO. Tail vein administration did induce liver kidney injury mice but induced or damage when co-administered with paraquat, cisplatin acetaminophen. Therefore, our findings indicate that potentially hepatotoxic nephrotoxic due interactions.

Embryo-Protective Effects Of Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles Against Gestational Diabetes in Mice

Context: Gestational diabetes is defined as carbohydrate intolerance with onset or first recognition during pregnancy. Diabetes during pregnancy increases the incidences of congenital anomalies, in a mother and her embryo. Oxidative stress has been implicated to be responsible in diabetic embryopathy. Objective: In this study, we used nanoceria as an antioxidant for amelioration of diabetic embry...

Cerium oxide nanoparticles in cancer

With the development of many nanomedicines designed for tumor therapy, the diverse abilities of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CONPs) have encouraged researchers to pursue CONPs as a therapeutic agent to treat cancer. Research data have shown CONPs to be toxic to cancer cells, to inhibit invasion, and to sensitize cancer cells to radiation therapy and chemotherapy. CONPs also display minimal toxic...

The acute pulmonary and thrombotic effects of cerium oxide nanoparticles after intratracheal instillation in mice

Cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2 NPs), used as a diesel fuel catalyst, can be emitted into the ambient air, resulting in exposure to humans by inhalation. Recent studies have reported the development of lung toxicity after pulmonary exposure to CeO2 NPs. However, little is known about the possible thrombotic effects of these NPs. The present study investigated the acute (24 hours) effect of int...
